Veins
Superficial Veins
Dr Rashad Bishara started the application of modern methods for the treatment of varicose veins in 2007. He has extensive experience in thermal ablation using radiofrequency and laser equipment. He also performed thousands of cases of foam sclerotherapy for varicose veins, and spider leg veins (telangiectasia).
Deep Veins
Dr Rashad Bishara is one of very few vascular surgeons worldwide who performed endovascular catheter-based interventions for the deep venous system, as early as 1996. He has large experience in catheter-directed-thrombolysis in acute deep venous thrombosis, and in iliac vein stenting for chronic post-thrombotic iliac vein occlusion.
Peripheral ischemiaa
Dr Rashad Bishara initiated the policy of endovascular interventions performed by vascular surgeons in the early 90’s. This became the national standard in Egypt, the only country in the region of the Middle East where this policy is applied, and one of few countries world-wide. He established the first endovascular unit in Egypt and the Middle East region in year 2000. It rapidly became the flagship of the General Organization of Teaching Hospitals of Egypt for catheter-based interventions for vascular diseases, and a regional training center. He built-up extensive experience in the treatment of the most complex cases of peripheral vascular diseases.
Diabetic foot
Dr Rashad Bishara established the first privately owned diabetic foot center DFC-Egypt in year 2011, which rapidly became well known for its good quality service, and the ability of its large multi-disciplinary team to obtain good results in the most challenging cases of diabetic foot complications.
Carotid
Dr Rashad Bishara performed the first carotid artery stent in Egypt in year 2000. He has large experience in this procedure, with excellent results, in addition to his experience in open surgery of the carotid artery.
Aortic aneurysms
Dr Rashad Bishara performs both open repair and catheter-based interventions for abdominal aortic aneurysms. He is known for his good results in both.
